In this tutorial I'm going to teach you how to flash and update your Nokia Lumia 720 online. The reason you want to do this is to fix your Windows phone hang or freeze problem. Also, this process repair Lumia that hangs on spinning cog wheels right after you do a hard reset on it.
The same thing happened to my customer Nokia Lumia. First it was freezing so I do a hard reset. After that, the phone reboot and forever stop in spinning cog wheels. There's nothing left for me to do but update the firmware of his Nokia Lumia 720 online.
This solution will run up to 4 hrs. totally depends on the speed of your internet connection. Mine was actually 4-5 hrs. before the complete firmware updated finished.
Software and tools you need:
1. You need a USB cable to connect your Windows phone to computer
2. You need to download Nokia Software Updater for Retail the latest version now is 4.3.2
3. Computer running on windows 32 bit. Windows XP or Windows 7 will do.
Procedure:
1. First download and install Nokia Software Updater for Retail 4.3.2. If you have the same software but not updated to the latest version you can simply update it by running it. It will connect online to the server and update itself to the latest version.
2. Connect your smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
3. Next run Nokia Software Updater for Retail. It will automatically detect your smartphone and install all the needed drivers for updating the smartphone online.
4. Click Install. This time the software will download the latest firmware for the cellphone. Wait till it finished. This is where most of your time will consume because the speed totally depends on your internet connection. Mine took me 5 hrs. total lol. I think I needed to upgrade my broadband plan.
5. Next the software will flash or reprogram the software for you. You will see a bar moving from left to right to show you the ongoing programming.
6. Finally your smartphone will reboot. Don't celebrate yet :) Now your smartphone will turn on and you will be required to do the initial setup. Lucky for you if the language is in English, but if it is in Chinese you need a help from a Chinese neighbor or figure it out by yourself by trial and error.
7. Head on to Google search and type "Nokia lumia 720 change language" Watch the video and see all the tutorials you could read.
8. After you setup and change your cellphone language to English now it's time to CELEBRATE!
